OVERVIEW: The Tp 613 is a heavyweight, wire-guided anti-ship torpedo developed by Sweden and introduced in the mid-1980s. It is designed for submarine launch and optimized for high-speed engagement of surface vessels.

DETAILS: “Tp” stands for Torped, and “613” designates this enhanced model in the Swedish Tp 61 series. Developed by FFV and introduced around 1984, the Tp 613 retained the 533 mm diameter and HTP-ethanol piston engine of the Tp 612 but added a new seeker and two-way wire guidance system. The torpedo measures approximately 7 m in length, weighs up to 1 860 kg, and carries a 300 kg warhead with proximity and contact fuzes. It is capable of speeds exceeding 60 knots and uses acoustic and wake-homing during terminal attack, making it effective against fast-moving surface combatants.

TYPE: Heavyweight Wire-Guided Anti-Ship Torpedo

FUNCTION: Launched from 533 mm submarine tubes, the Tp 613 uses wire guidance with two-way communication for mid-course corrections. In the terminal phase, it employs an active/passive acoustic seeker and wake-homing to engage surface ships at high speed.
